This is a powerful principle when multi-cycle, synchronized troughs occur, because evidence that a shorter wavelength trough has occurred can by used to conclude that system trough of a longer cycle has also occurred. The Underlying Trend is the sum total of the combined effect of Hurst Cycles longer than the cycle you are trading.
